Maybe some of you watched more videos than the years before. I guess this will be the case in 2021 as well. That’s why I wrote down this summary of my favorites of 2020.
Vielleicht hat der ein oder andere im letzten Jahr ein paar Videos mehr angeschaut als in vorherigen Jahren. Weil es in 2021 vielleicht auch noch ganz gute Chancen gibt Videos zu schauen, habe ich die für mich wichtigsten Videos und Serien aus 2020 hier kurz zusammengefasst.

Chunk The Groundhog
Caution!! Content is not suitable for Knigge fanboys
Chunk The Groundhog was a companion through the whole year. The channel brings you the latest news from Chunk the groundhog, his family, and neighbors. Every few days there is a new video. The Dodo made a feature of how the channel started. Even during winter, when Chunk is hibernating, you can find compilations of the best moments of last year.
Wollemia
In 1994 23 wollemia trees were found in the Wollemi National Park in Australia. Before scientists believed the tree got extinct million years ago. Mankind like “What? Hold my beer”, burned fossil fuels like there is no tomorrow which resulted in an unusually intense bushfire season in Australia. The wollemia trees were threatened to fall victim to flames. Last-minute brave Australian firefighters protected the national treasure in a “military-style operation”. Videos of the operation can be found at Guardian News and The Sydney Morning Herald.
Koala Party
According to Ozzy Man, once it finally started to rain the koalas had a party.
Maybe also some wombats showed up if the DJ played some classic rock tunes.
You know, koalas favor electronic music.
Devs
Devs was for sure the best series of 2020. The pictures of the sequoia forest around the university of Santa Cruz would be reason enough to watch it. Maybe because that’s not enough for everyone they also added some silicon valley mentality, quantum computing, the universe, and everything inside. You can check on WerStreamt.es which of your favorite streaming providers gives you access to it.
Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives
Even if it’s already a little bit older Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives should be mentioned in that context. The documentation follows E from the Eels on his journey into the past, to his father Hugh Everett, the mind who proposed the many-worlds interpretation.
Deep Fakes
Deep fakes will become a series issue in the close future for our society. I can recommend the feature from Fred Sassy about that topic.

Durch das ganze Jahr hat mich Chunk The Groundhog begleitet. Auf dem Kanal erfährt man das Neuestes aus der Welt von Chunk, dem Murmeltier, seiner Familie und Nachbarn. Alle paar Tage gibt es ein neues Video. Zur Entstehungsgeschichte gibt es ein Feature von The Dodo. Im Winter, wenn Chunk seinen Winterschlaf hält, gibt es Best-Ofs aus dem vergangenem Jahr.
Wollemie
1994 wurden im australischen Wollemi-Nationalpark eine Population von 23 Wollemie Bäumen entdeckt, die bis dahin als seit Million Jahren ausgestorben galten. Die Menschheit so: “Halt mein Bier”, befeuert den Klimawandel bis es zum Jahreswechsel 2019/2020 zu den bisher stärksten Buschfeuern in Australien kommt. Fast wären die Wollemie Bäume auch dem Feuer zum Opfer gefallen. In letzter Minute jedoch, retten australische Feuerwehrmänner den Nationalschatz in einer “military-style operation” vor den Flamen. Koala Party
Als dann endlich der Regen kam, fand laut Ozzy Man eine Koala Party statt. Falls doch noch etwas Class Rock lief, waren evtl. auch ein paar Wombats mit dabei. Bekanntlich ist elektronische Tanzmusik ja eher Sache der Koalas.
Devs
Die Serie des Jahres war definitiv Devs. Eigentlich würden die Bilder im Sequoia Wald rund um die Universität von Santa Cruz schon Grund genug sein um die Serie zu schauen. Weil das aber vielleicht nicht für jeden reicht, haben die Macher noch Silicon Valley Mentalität, Quantencomputing, das Universum und alles darin mit reingepackt. Auf WerStreamt.es könnt ihr nachschauen ob es auf dem Streamingdienst eures Vertrauens läuft.
Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives
Schon älter, aber in diesem Kontext sollte Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives nicht unerwähnt bleiben. Die Doku begleitet E von the Eels, bei seiner Reise in die Vergangenheit, zu seinem Vater Hugh Everett, auf dessen Arbeit die Many-Worlds Interpretation zurückgeht.
Deep Fakes
Deep Fakes werden wohl zukünftig noch zu einem ernsthaftem Problem für unsere Gesellschaft werden. Zu dem Thema kann ich die Reportage von Fred Sassy empfehlen.
